Summoners presents: Kevin Jones in A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Summoners Ensemble Theatre’s one-man production of A Christmas Carol is adapted from Charles Dickens’ own edited version that he used for annual holiday readings in people’s homes. In this time of economic difficulty and disparity, much like the mid 19^th Century conditions when A Christmas Carol was written, we find this transformational tale to be strikingly relevant. In the spirit of Dickens’ readings, we offer this performance for parties or events in homes and intimate spaces.

A Christmas Carol is performed by John Kevin Jones. Having played several roles in many fully mounted productions of A Christmas Carol regionally, combined with Kevin’s work with multiple characters and vocal dexterity, make him uniquely suited to solo performance of this piece.

The production is one hour in length and requires only a chair and a cup of tea. No special lighting is needed and all sound effects are made live in performance. Summoners Ensemble reads GETTING IT

March 8, 2009 - Summoners Ensemble Theatre presented a reading of GETTING IT, by Kevin Jones. Rhonda Dodd directed a cast which included Hugh Sinclair, Kit Williams, Kathleen R. White and Stephen Squibb.

ELEGIES ends its run with a Gunn

ELEGIES FOR ANGELS, PUNKS AND RAGING QUEENS ended its run Sunday, October 19, 2008 with a benefit performance for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Special guest for the event was Project Runway's Tim Gunn.

ELEGIES was produced by Sweet and Tart Productions in association with Summoners Ensemble Theatre. Special thanks to Brad Caswell for including SET in this production.

Art for Art's Sake II: Queer Elegies proved to be a great kick off to the upcoming production of ELEGIES FOR ANGLES, PUNKS & RAGING QUEENS.

Art for Art's Sake II: Queer Elegies

Join us for our second Art for Art's Sake fundraiser October 6 & 7, 2008 from 6:30 - 9:00 pm, as we kick off our co-production of ELEGIES FOR ANGELS, PUNKS AND RAGING QUEENS.

Tickets to this wine and cheese mixer are a minimum donation of $25 per person. The event will feature the work of Jeffery Miller, George Gozum, Walter Kurtz, Paul Reitz, Stanley Stellar, Kim Hanson, and Kelly Grider (whose work is seen at left).

50% of all proceeds will benefit Summoners Ensemble Theatre and 50% will be donated to The Actor's Fund HIV/AIDS Initiative.

Art for Art's Sake raises $700

Our first fundraising event was a success! Our guests enjoyed gourmet snacks provided by Manhattan Fruitier and Mitchell & Mitchell Peanuts while viewing the beautiful photography of Walter Kurtz.

Our thanks to all who attended and special thanks to Mark Woodcock, Kermit Medsker, Judy & Ron Jones, and especially SET board president, Michael Mafrici, for turning his office into a gallery.

New record: LR Marathon raised over $2,000 for SET

The Little Rock Marathon was a success all the way around! Joey finished with a time of 4:03 (compared to last year's time of 4:10) and you helped us raise over $2,000. Over $700 more than last year!

About Summoners Ensemble

1993 saw the first life of Summoners Ensemble. Born from that year’s graduating class of Circle in the Square Theatre School’s Professional Training Conservatory, the company was composed of a group of like-minded actors each of whom wanted a chance to work in theatre in New York while pursuing their dreams of actually getting paid to do so. The inaugural show was “Splinters on the Wheel,” a two-act play created by the company from months of improvisational work. One of the delightful highlights of the first few years of production was a new musical written specifically for the company called “Neurotica” which was about the two things everyone in New York is searching for - true love and a great apartment. After five years of producing cabarets, a new musical, new plays and plays of artistic interest, the company ceased continuous production. Now, after several years, Summoners Ensemble has been reborn.

Summoners Ensemble is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
